Understanding the Halal Industry & WHF

Since the turn of the 21st century, there have been efforts to create organizations, such as the Halal Food Authority, that certify food products as halal for muslim consumers.
“Halal” is an Arabic word meaning “lawful” or “permissible”, and the term not only covers food and drink, but also to all matters of daily life for muslims.

When it comes to halal food, most people think of meat foods only, but muslims aim to ensure that all foods, particularly processed foods, pharmaceuticals, and non-food items like cosmetics, are also halal. Frequently, these products contain animal by-products or other ingredients that are not permissible for Muslims to eat or use on their bodies unless the animal was Ritually Slaughtered.
This image shows the different sectors where there are active halal organisations.

Throughout the world there are many different Halal Certification Boards in different countries often with diverse standards or criteria for judging if a product or service is halal compliant. They seek to certify services, products & chains this will involve sectors, brands & corporations.
Halal Authorities use different unique signs like these ones in use in UK

Halal Services are food processing plants, meat cutting plants, mainstream manufacturers of soups, grains, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, prepared foods & other products, as well as hotels, restaurants, airlines, sporting venues, hospitals and other institutions.

Halal Products are linked to wide variety of organisations, from the small local traders & businesses, to the huge multinational companies that export globally and market their products under particular Brand Names that will signify their association to those companies eg.Nestle.
Chains are Companies that may have franchises or branches within one or more different countries e.g. Subway, KFC.
In addition muslims look to change & control sectors involved in in finance, legal, media etc.. to bring them under halal compliance.
They will look at the company’s that are manufacturing &/or distributing products e.g. Dairy, Confectionery & Sauce products contain additives & flavourings along with the main ingredients, which may lead to Companies, Manufacturing Plants or/and the products themselves becoming halal certified.
This worldwide halal organisation is being driven by the World Halal Forum (WHF) they are highly organised and well financed.

 The World Halal Forum (WHF)

The World Halal Forum (WHF) was established in 2006 and has become an integral part in the development of a viable global Halal industry worldwide, by promoting the concept of  Halal for the benefit of the global market. WHF provides a global Forum for the halal industry, with regular meetings worldwide, for government players in the Halal market who have had intentions from the outset to have a comprehensive global reach, whilst at the same time being a focal point for stakeholders.

In early 2011, WHF has been transformed into a Not For Profit entity (LOL ANOTHER CHARITY?) driven for and by the industry, working closely with IHI Alliance, the global Halal authority. The WHF Charter is recognised by the Organisation of The Islamic Conference (OIC).

See all the well known brands they have already influenced… HSBC & Colgate can be seen clearly in that image.

The WHF programme includes the WHF Industry Dialogues, WHF Roundtable and World Halal Forum Europe making it one of the most influential platforms driving the Halal industry forward internationally. The WHF CEO Round Table series is another initiative in-line with the World Halal Forum Charter and will assist and support the development of world-class Halal industry standards covering the entire value chain.

From the outset the World Halal Forum has adopted this World Halal Forum Charter which is a set of guidelines and goals that compliment Malaysia‟s global Halal Hub ambitions.

QUESTION So how does WHF affect Non-Islamic Countries like Britain?

ANSWER In 2009 WHF makes UK a ‘PILOT PROJECT’ and in 2010 WHF send Halal MAINSTREAM in UK

Sadly, in 2009, the World Halal Forum “chose” the UK as it’s ‘pilot project’ to roll out halal to the mainstream consumer:

See especially pages 7, 15 and 25 of this report:

[This report takes a while to download because it’s now buried deep in the ‘system’!]

Then in 2010 WHF said that it will QUOTE: “Take Halal Mainstream in UK and then Europe”

The Reason?  See pages 15 and 24, where the WHF ‘chose’ the UK as it’s Pilot Project to send halal mainstream!

NOTE no one from the UK was at this meeting… This was not agreed by the British people…

See pages 15 and 24, where the WHF ‘chose’ the UK as it’s Pilot Project to send halal mainstream!

(You may have to wait for it to load… they do not want people to see this (but I have copies downloaded!)

In UK this LICENCE of Exemption was already in place this should have protected us from the massive over-production of halal meat that we now have in the UK… but it didn’t!

The Licence from exemption from full stunning under UK law states quite clearly that it is an offence to slaughter by a religious method if it is known that the meat is not intended for the consumption of those religions who ‘require’ it.  It clearly states ,in that marked paragraph, that this exemption to allow unstunned meat is for the Jews to produce kosher meat for Jews & for Muslim slaughtermen to perform their ritual slaughter to provide halal meat for muslims –
Nowhere does it state that this exemption can be used for mainstream supply of RS unstunned meat.

Halal Ritual Slaughter has really lowered the standards of Animal Welfare in our abattoirs… the vast over-production of halal is causing us to abandon all civilized rules for agriculture & animal husbandry!

Muslims have found a loophole which is allowing them to call Electro-immobilisation – ‘Stun-to-Immobilise’ – – and from this people assume they mean Electrical Stunning which IT IS NOT!
Stun-to-Immobilise is performed by using Ultra Low Amperage Stunning…  for halal ritual slaughter the amperage is turned to the lowest setting!

Electro-immobilisation is very cruel.

The animal is stunned just to immobilize it it is still  fully conscious, but unable to move or vocalise it pain.

Read more about Electro-immobilization here…

Unfair Trading Label ‘RS’ Products & Services

THIS IS THE PROBLEM: Newly formed muslim group ANSA (Association of Non Stun Abattoirs) was formed to represent the voice of the halal meat industry. Acting as the voice for the Non-Stun Halal Abattoirs say, “ANSA only accepting 100% non stun abattoirs “

QUOTE from ANSA website:

“Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came as the final prophet to teach the whole world, including Britain and EU and DEFRA and FSA, on the best behaviour in all aspects of life including animal “slaughter”. We should be “exporting” his HUMANE Halal Prophetic method to all non-Muslims and to DEFRA/FSA and the EU and not to be “importing” their “lost wrong ways of life” in a lot of things including their cruel animal “slaughter”.”

QUESTION:  How are all our well known Brands eg. Kingsmill Bread, becoming Halal Certified?

Last year in UK the HFA aimed at Allied Bakeries and began by getting their Walthamstow Plant Halal Certified that will now be closely audited monitored & inspected by the HFA (Halal Food Authority). See them listed here…

This regular HFA audit now has to be paid for by Allied Bakeries, who will have probably been promised many benefits like wider distribution and expansion to new muslim markets. Ingredients used in the Aliied Bakery Plant now have to meet the HFA Standard. All cleaning products used in the plant must be halal too and not contain alcohol the requirements for halal compliance go on & on… and can include muslim workers only in certain roles… which marginalises Non-Muslim British workers.
This move on Allied Bakeries towards halal compliance affected 4 Brands Sunblest, Burgen, Allinsonand Kingsmill… but only Kingsmill (which involves 18 different types of bread) is showing the Halal Mark on its packaging which adds another regularly paid additional cost.

So how can this be profitable with all these extra costs?

Many of these halal organisations are Registered Religious Charities and somehow have managed to claim that they are Non-Profit making, so get various Tax & VAT exemptions…

Yes… this will affect our economy as money is channelled off towards Islamic aims!  Not what we need in these times of austerity is it?

NOTE that Allied Bakeries is one of the UK’s leading Bakery Businesses one of three divisions of Allied Milling and Baking, which in turn is a part of Associated British Foods (ABF) plc, a major international business with a turnover of £11.1bn and close to 102,000 employees working in 46 countries. In the UK, well-known ABF brands include: Twinings, Silver Spoon, Primark, Ryvita, Ovaltine, Patak’s and Jordans Cereals. They supply Bread to Schools… which will now be halal and there is no mention of this massive paradigm shift on their website… Nowhere does it say that Allied Bakeries is now a halal compliant company.

How do I know all this?

I was on the phone to them every week as all these changes were made last year complaining… but it was all to no avail.

The only way we can show our dissatisfaction is to BOYCOTT HALAL PRODUCTS & SERVICES this will reduce demand and slow production.

BOYCOTT ALLIED BAKERIES PRODUCTS and write & tell them we are doing so & why!

Vegetarians have contacted us and are specifically concerned about how Milk & Sauces are affected…

On that HFA link you will see a list of many companies including:
MEADOW FOODS Processors, Procurers, Manufacturers and distributors of HALAL Dairy products including Milk (skimmed, concentrates and full creamed), Anhydrous Milk Fat and varieties of Creams & Butters.
SMITHS FLOUR MILLS Processors, procurers, manufacturers and distributors of HALAL White Flour, Heat Treated Flour and Wheat Feed at Lincolnshire and Nottingham plants
VOLAC INTERNATIONAL Processors, procurers, manufacturers and distributors of Halal Whey Protein Isolate and Lactose Powder at named plant

The List goes on and on and on…

If you are in the UK you can find out who your representatives are here…

Just put your postcode on this official government website to find out who your MP, MEPs (I have 5) and LORDs are.

Then write via the website for FREE… all it will cost is your time!

DO IT NOW PLEASE You know it makes sense!
